Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” seemingly about her breakup with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, topped the chart in Hemsworth’s home country Australia, broke Spotify’s one-week streaming record, and sparked a plethora of fan theories about the music video containing particularly shady easter eggs about Hemsworth.
Fan theories include Cyrus responding to Bruno Mars’ song “When I Was Your Man” in the chorus because Hemsworth allegedly dedicated the song to her while they were together.
She didn’t confirm or deny anything outright. Instead, she just marveled over her little sister’s genius.
“Miley’s new song, all the tea…and all the narratives that fans are making on TikTok. It’s so good,” Brandi said, via Us Weekly. “The song did come out on his birthday—was that on purpose? I don’t know. Can’t say. Genius, though.”
When Wells asked Brandi if any of the theories were true, Brandi played coy. “I’m not here to say that’s true and what’s not true,” she answered. “Only Miley knows the truth.”
