Hocus Pocus is going to get the Broadway treatment and become a musical revealed the film's producer David Kirschner, 67.
'They are building a Broadway version of Hocus Pocus,' he told The Art of Kindness podcast. 'I just want to pinch myself.'
This news comes ahead of the highly anticipated release of Hocus Pocus 2 starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy on Disney+
Fans of the original film will be relieved to see that music will remain a key ingredient to Hocus Pocus 2. 'Yes, there will be a number,' Parker declared on Watch What Happens Live! back in February. 'Of course, there will be a number. A number or two.'
The film's three leading ladies covered Elton John's The Bitch is Back in a sneak peak of the sequel during Disney's upfronts in May. More music will undoubtedly be on the way as the Sanderson Sisters prepare to mount their brooms and head for Broadway.
The plan to do a musical originally began to take shape before the pandemic, but has since been resurrected. 'This started before COVID,' Kirschner told People, 'but now it seems to be back on.'
