Eric Abramovitz, 24, applied to study at the Colburn Conservatory in L.A. in 2014. He was offered a scholarship and room and board for the following semester. His then girlfriend Jennifer Lee had seen the email and deleted it before Eric had seen it. She posed as Eric and rejected the offer from the email, Lee then sent a fake email posing as a school administrator telling Abramovitz he'd been turned down. Following that she sent an email where she offered a $5,000 scholarship to a different school which she knew he could not afford instead, then consoled him as he lamented the rejection.
These two broke up 6 months after this situation. Years later he re-applied to the school and found out that he earlier was accepted and was asked why he rejected it in the first place. After learning about this Eric took his ex to court, and was awarded $260,000 after a court found her guilty.
