Thousands of Austin Area families braved the cold this passed weekend to be a part of the Annual Coats for Kids Drive here in Austin. Some of the participants were quoted saying this is better than Christmas.
Thanks to the generous community, thousands of hours of hard work and a team of volunteers, every child at the center -- some who came bundled in blankets -- will leave with winter coats.
"This is like the feel-good moment of the year," said Julie Hall, president of the Junior League of Austin, which sponsors the event.
Last year this drive gave over 34,000 coats. This year they added 1,000 more to this distribution for a grand total of 35,580 coats were given away.
