Ben Platt Performs Moving New Song ‘So Will I’: Watch Back the Performance

Warning: Be prepared to be emotionally moved. Emmy, Tony and Grammy winner Ben Platt joined Ryan Seacrest via Zoom on air on Wednesday, May 20. The talented singer and actor performed his new quarantine single, “So Will I,” and shared what to expect with the highly-anticipated new season of Netflix’s The Politician.

Platt shared he joined forces with collaborator Michael Pollack for the new emotional track.

"I wrote this song
while I was here in quarantine, in isolation, and I wanted to write a song that spoke to the moment and kind of the overwhelming heaviness that’s going on and hopefully provide some comfort,” Platt explained. “But also a song that I hope can live beyond this moment because as we all know, this is going to be temporary, so I wanted it to be something that was universal but also could apply to right now.”

The track, which was also produced by Billie Eilish's brother Finneas, comes at a prolific time for the star, who is returning to Netflix in season two of The Politician.

“Ryan Murphy, who is a real genius, and thankfully this season we have Judith Light and Bette Midler joining the team and the whole season kind of focuses on Judith and I go head-to-head in the State Senate election and then Bette Midler is her campaign manager so it’s top dogs all around,” Platt teased. “It’s really exciting to act with all those people.”

Season two of The Politician arrives June 22 and Platt promises it’s a nice escape from the reality of our current politics. The actor can also be seen in Netflix special Ben Platt Live from Radio City. The special features Platt's solo concert at Radio City Music Hall, filmed last September.
