Chris Martin kicked off the 2025 Invictus Games on Saturday (February 8) and received a phone call from Prince Harry before his performance.

The Coldplay frontman revealed the contents of their conversation during his set at the annual sporting event, assuring that the beloved royal was "kind and sweet," per People.

"I would like to say thank you, of course, to Prince Harry. When he called me, he said, 'I've called every other musician in the world. They've all said they're not available, so I have to call you. And I said, 'Your Royal Holiness, I'm honored.'"

The cameraman panned to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the crowd who lightheartedly shook their heads at the musician's joke.

"But thank you, Harry, for being such an inspiring leader and kind and sweet man. I hope you have the most wonderful games of all. It's a pleasure to be here."

People mentioned that the "A Sky Full of Stars" standout performed a slew of hits including "Higher Power," "Viva La Vida," and "I AM," which he composed the score for in 2014 that became synonymous with Invictus Games medal ceremonies over the years.

Other artists who took the stage at this year's Invictus Games in Vancouver included Nelly Furtado, Katy Perry, and Noah Kahan.
