According to recent data from Instacart, these barbecue staples and fresh summer produce are what Americans are eating this summer.
Nectarines - This juicy fruit was found in 1/73 Instacart orders. Nectarines are in season from April to August so make sure you grab some while they're ripe. You can eat them solo, in a Nectarine Olive Oil Cake, Nectarine cobbler, in a salad, it's sweet and tangy flavor opens it up to use in a variety of sweet summer recipes.
Peaches - If you can't get your peaches down in Georgia, locally store bought is fine. Peaches were found in 1/40 Instacart orders. Peaches are best when they have a dark yellow color and aren't firm or squishy, but have a little give when squeezing them.
Cherries - Cherries were found in 1/38 carts. Eat them solo, bake them in a pie or crumb bar, and if you're feeling really adventurous, try this Cherry Clafoutis recipe. What's a Clafoutis, you ask? You'll have to bake it and find out because I had no idea this existed until I started writing this article.
Corn - We live in the midwest OF COURSE WE'RE GRILLING CORN. I'm a big fan of elotes, if you want to give it a try here's a great authentic recipe.
Hamburgers and Hotdogs - Hamburgers were found in 1/32 carts and Hotdogs in every 1/16. Who knew hotdogs were more popular than hamburgers? For vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians, the Lightlife veggie dogs and Impossible Burgers are pretty good!
Beef Steak - Beef Steak was found in 1/20 carts and were most popular in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Watermelon - 1/14 carts contained watermelons. Are you surprised? THEY'RE DELICIOUS. A little salt a little tan, eat it with breakfast lunch dinner AND dessert. Revel in its watery goodness.
