Drake confirmed the release date for his newest upcoming album Certified Lover Boy. He released the big news on social media.

The rapper originally announced the new album back in October of 2020. Drake first said the album would drop sometime in January of 2021, reported RollingStone. Ultimately, the album was pushed back.

Drake posted what seems to be the album artwork for the project on Instagram. The artwork shows 12 pregnant emojis, all with different skin tones, clothing colors, and hair colors. Along with the artwork, the artist wrote the caption:

"CERTIFIED LOVER BOY SEPTEMBER 3"

Fans had already speculated that the rapper revealed the release date even sooner, however, in a cryptic message on SportsCenter. During the ESPN program's regular intro sequence, the clips appeared to be glitching in and out. During the glitches, a cardboard sign could be seen that said, "CLB September 3."

This is Drake's first proper studio project since 2018 when he released Scorpion. Since then, however, he released a compilation in 2019, called Care Package, a 2020 mixtape called Dark Lane Demo Tapes, and an EP called Scary Hours 2.
