Cameron Boyce’s Parents Recall Their Final Night With Son Before He Died

More than a month later, Cameron Boyce’s parents, Victor and Libby Boyce, are remembering the last night they spent with their son before his untimely death.

During Wednesday’s episode (August 14) of Good Morning America, the actor’s mom and dad sat down with host Robin Roberts on the show to speak about the “beautiful” evening the couple shared with the Descendants star, not knowing it would be their last. “The night he passed away, we were out to dinner with him just hours before. It was a completely normal, beautiful family night out to dinner,” Victor told Roberts alongside his wife, per Us Weekly.

“There was no indication that anything was wrong,” he continued. “I mean, there was no way to know in hours my son would be dead. Like, it was just staggeringly crazy and horrible. And we were texting that night.”

As many know, Cameron died in his sleep on July 6 after enduring a “massive epileptic seizure,” as determined by the M.E. of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. He was 20 years old.

Elsewhere in the interview, Libby expressed that Cameron, who was diagnosed with epilepsy three years ago, didn’t want his medical condition to “define him,” to which Victor added: “It didn’t define him. He wasn’t scared. He never complained about anything.”

“He loved life. He was kind of in a place — for me this is the hardest thing — he was in a place where he was truly happy,” Libby continued. “I mean, Cameron was always happy, never a negative thing came out of his mouth, but he was really just finding his groove.”

Her son, who Libby adds, was passionate about using “his voice” for charity. In his honor, both the Disney Channel and Adam Sandler sparked donations to the Thirst Project, which Cameron was “deeply committed” to supporting.
