Avicii's Team Announces Posthumous Album 'Tim,' New Single Due April 10

Avicii's family will extend the EDM titan's legacy will a posthumous album, which is set to drop on June 6.

On Friday (April 5), Virgin EMI Records and the artist's estate announced the forthcoming album called TIM, which will include a number of songs that he was working on at the time of his 2018 death. "He left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music," a letter from Team Avicii read in a statement released by his reps. "The songwriters that Tim was collaborating with on this album have continued the process to get as close to his vision as possible."

In March, the late DJ's family announced the conception of Tim Bergling Foundation dedicated to providing awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention. Proceeds from the LP will benefit the foundation. "Since Tim's passing, the family decided not to keep the music locked away -- instead they wanted to share it with his fans all around the world," the note added. Expect "SOS," the first single from the set, to be released on April 10.

Days after his death, his family implied that the Swedish hitmaker died of an apparent suicide. "When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer," the statement said. Avicii was found dead last year in Muscat, Oman. He was 28.
