LEANDER, Texas — The mother of a Leander 12-year-old, who was trapped on a school bus after police say the driver drove it into a low-water crossing, is speaking out for the first time.
The boy called his mother as the bus was being swept downstream and told her he thought he was going to die.
We are learning more about that seventh-grader's desperate call to his mother and the terror she felt until she knew her son was OK.
It all happened on Oct. 16 as historic flooding happened across Central Texas.
Based on dashcam evidence, the bus drove into a low-water crossing -- the current so strong that it caused white caps -- before it was swept down Brushy Creek.
