According to Richard Jantz, an anthropology professor at the University of Tennessee Amelia Earharts Bones have already been discovered. 80 years ago!
Put simply, Jantz said, "until definitive evidence is presented that the remains are not those of Amelia Earhart, the most convincing arguments is that they are hers." In the same statement, the university said the bones "were likely" Earhart's.
The bones of course have since disappeared so further study of the remains is unavailable. No one really knows if there will ever be definitive proof of what happened to her, so right now all we can do is speculate
