Crazy day of events up in Round Rock yesterday that had I-35 shut down for over 7 hours yesterday. In the morning RRPD got a call about someone walking on I-35. When they arrived they found a dead body on the road. Then when a police officer arrived he was trying to direct traffic when he was struck by a car. The driver of the car was stopped and held while the officer was tended to by paramedics. NOT ONLY did the officer directing traffic get struck by a car, 2 police officers and a tech were struck by cloud to ground positive lightning. Positive lightning is stronger, brighter and way more rare than normal negative to positive lightning. All officers involved are still alive, the one struck by the car is in serious condition in the hospital but is expected to survive. The driver of the original accident did not stop, and the driver that struck the officer is being held by police.
