The employee that was responsible for sending out the alert of the missile threat has been let go. It has become known that the employee did not even understand that it was a drill, even though 5 other employees in the same room heard "Drill, Drill, Drill" stating that it was a drill. Retired Brig. Gen. Bruce Oliveira said, "When it became apparent that the real-world alert was issued," the employee who pushed the button "seemed confused, he froze and another employee had to take over his responsibilities."
It is safe to say if you aren't sure about someone completely, you shouldn't put them in charge of something that results in chaos of 10's of thousands of people.
