New Music Report: Expert Picks - Week of October 16th

FPM

There has been a lot of great new music released over the last few weeks. You can find out what was released this weekend in our New Music Report, but take a look at what we've been listening to lately. Our editors Nicole, James, and Isha have shared some of their Expert Picks for the week. Check it out below.

Nicole's Picks:

Alesso featuring Anitta - "Is That For Me"

Is that for me, Alesso? I hope so, because I love this song. Alesso and Brazilian singer Anitta have teamed up for their brand new collab called "Is That For Me," and if you're enjoying the extended summer weather we seem to be having, you can add this song to your playlist with its tropical vibes and Anitta's light and airy vocals. And while you're at it, watch the music video -- they're literally in a tropical rain forest (FOMO). Also, fun fact: The song was  written by Poo Bear, who recently collaborated with Anitta on "Will I See You."

Cheat Codes featuring Fetty Wap - "Feels Great"

"Do you remember how it feels to be young?/It feels great, mothaf***a, yeah." Excuse me, while I belt this out to myself for the rest of my life, or make a motivational poster out of it. Cheat Codes has teamed up with Fetty Wap for their latest single, and it is a BOP that will give you all the nostalgic feels. The song also features also features Oregon singer/producer CVBZ, and aside from the feel-good lyrics in the chorus, also showcases sentiments anyone can relate to as they take a look back in time.

James' Picks:

DEVOTED - “People Are Boring” featuring Billionaire

After releasing debut single, “Santa Fe,” DEVOTED (the solo project from former Point Point and Alesia band member Lemuel Dufez) returns with an upbeat follow-up serving called “People Are Boring” featuring Billionaire. In just under three minutes, listeners hear the UK singer tell an exceptionally sweet tale to his lover, admitting that “people are boring, but not you.” We appreciate the sentiment, fellas. The Knocks featuring Captain Cuts - "House Party"

When The Knocks party, they know how to do it right and their new collaboration with Captain Cuts, “House Party,” is near perfect for any rooftop shindig. Well, since fall is currently upon us (even though it doesn't feel like it), "House Party" still works at any, well, house party. It's groovy and feel-good but it also doesn't attempt to be anything that it isn't. Here's a bumping party anthem that checks all the appropriate boxes!

Isha's Picks:

Gucci Mane – Mr. Davis – "We Ride"

Gucci Mane called on Monica to collaborate with him on one of his new Mr. Davis tracks called “We Ride.” The song is a tribute to the rapper’s soon-to-be wife, Keyshia Ka’oir and Gucci raps about Ka’oir always sticking by his side, even when he was serving time in prison and a lot of his so-called had friends turned their backs on him. Monica’s smooth voice on the song is just perfection, as she adds some more sweet touches to the track. “Don’t trust nobody like I trust you/ I know you’ll never hurt me cuz it’ll hurt you/ Everybody turn their back on me, but not you/ And when I did time, you was doing time, too,” Guwop raps about his love.

Justine Skye – "Don’t Think About It"

Justine Skye has sex on the brain and she admitted it on her new single “Don’t Think About It.” Throughout the sexy track, she talks about a certain someone -- her friend with benefits -- that she just can’t seem to get enough of. “Every time I think about us, I know I’m cool cuz I know it ain’t love/ I know I’m cool cuz I know it ain’t trust/ We about that all day lovin’, all night/ Callin’ up your phone, I’m tryna hit/ I’m still getting over that you did to me,” the Roc Nation artist sings.
