(NEWSER– The gun control bill backers call the nation's toughest has won legislative approval; all that remains is for Gov. Dannel Malloy to sign it today at noon, theHartford Courant reports. The state Senate backed the bill 26-10 while the state House supported it 105-44 in a 2:26am vote following 13 hours of debate.

"This is a new and historic model for the country on an issue that has typically been the most controversial and divisive. We in Connecticut are breaking new ground today," says the Senate president pro tempore, a Democrat.
