Russians are dumping their iPads.

Top government officials in Russia are getting rid of their Apple tablets over fears of being spied on by the US.

One Russian minister said he had read that "American special services" would be increasing the volume of information they intercept.

Nikolai Nikiforov says that's causing Russian authorities to be more choosy about what devices they use.

But they're not getting rid of all their tablets -- Nikiforov says officials are opting for ones made by Samsung instead, which he claims offers specially protected devices that handle confidential information more securely.
