PALM SPRINGS (CNS) - A job fair held today for potential employees of the Hard Rock Hotel drew 4,000 to 5,000 people, prompting the hotel to schedule a second event Wednesday.

Next week's job fair will begin at the Palm SpringsConvention Center, where today's job fair was held, according to hotel staff. About 100 full- and part-time jobs are available at the hotel, which is slated to open Oct. 4.

“We want to thank all the good souls who waited so patiently in line,” said hotel general manager Hector Moreno. “We are blown away by the response, the commitment of the folks who waited and the caliber of these applicants.”

About 1,500 applicants who came today were asked to return next week. Hotel spokeswoman Therese Everett said anyone can go to Wednesday's job fair.

Hard Rock International, which has 18 hotels around the world, is working with Kittridge Hotel Management to turn the Hotel Zoso at

into the Hard Rock. The hotel is already taking reservations.

The 163-room hotel will have a spa and gym, gift shop, restaurant, lobby bar, pool and fire pits, along with 20,500 square feet of ballroom and banquet facility space and a business center.

In keeping with a music theme, the hotel will feature a VIP “rock star” suite, music memorabilia, and a program called “Sound Of Your Stay” allowing guests to download a personal playlist, play Fender guitars and mix music tracks.
